Higher Education Online Across National Boundaries - the Bavarian and Finnish Virtual Universities' experience

In connection with the EDEN Conference 11-14 June 2008 in Lisbon, Portugal, the FVU and the VHB organized a workshop "Higher Education Online Across National Boundaries - the Bavarian and Finnish Virtual Universities' experience". The workshop was held on Friday afternoon at 16.30 - 18:00, 3 June (Parallel session F4).

In the workshop, the unique exchange model adopted by the two consortia (Bavarian and Finnish Virtual Universities) and the experience gained so far from facilitating international virtual mobility was introduced and discussed with the participants. The workshop highlighted how the exchange is planned to take place in an organized manner making sure that the exchange studies meet the study plans of the students of the two consortia's member institutions, and how quality issues are taken care of. It also introduced the initial steps taken to expand the cooperation in the context of a new European network for Higher Education Online (EuNeOn).

Target group

The workshop was targeted to those who want to learn about and share their views on various aspects of virtual mobility and the exchange model being designed by the Bavarian and Finnish Virtual universities. Networks and agencies who would like to join the EuNeOn Network are welcome to discuss these aspects.
