Welcome to Language Centre Days, Turku/Åbo 18. - 19.5.2009!


The University of Turku Language Centre, Åbo Akademi Centre for Language and Communication and Turku School of Economics Department of Languages are jointly organising the Language Centre Days in Turku 18.-19.5.2009. The conference theme:

From Language Policy to Language Education in Practice

Most of the programme of the Language Centre Days will take place in the University of Turku, Faculty of Education building Educarium (Assistentinkatu 5; building T47 on the campus map).

Topics of current interest will be explored through, amongst others, plenary sessions, workshops, and presentations on the following four themes:

Theme 1: Language teaching pedagogy and examples of its application

Theme 2: Language policy challenges and continuity in language education

Theme 3: Plurilingualism / Multilingualism

Theme 4: Quality assurance in university language teaching

In the language- and administration-specific sessions, you will have the opportunity to meet your colleagues and to go more deeply into questions of special interest to your own reference group.

At the close of Monday, you will have the possibility to have a guided tour of Turku Cathedral before the start of the evening programme in the main building of the Old Academy of Turku, Akatemiatalo.

From the Old Academy building, we will move on to the history class of Brewery Restaurant Koulu (School) to socialise in a more relaxed setting.
